Sweet Elizabeth Bell

A change of style for this card. I wanted to try something a little different and I was really pleased that I did.

The background layer is kraft cardstock with little ants heat embossed with clear powder. I thought they fit with our little lady sitting on the stump. I've stitched around the kraft layer and the image and added the red cardstock to match her scarf. The brad in the flower is co-ordinated with the green circle piece of patterned paper. I made the crochet flower myself and the olive hydranga is from Bizzy Becs (see sidebar). I didn't have a sentiment to go with the image so I hand wrote one.

The blue checked paper is actually stamped!! I bought a Darkroom Door background stamp after seeing all of the fantastic work Debra James was doing with her's, but I couldn't get it to perform, then I asked Debra and she gave me some expert tips and look - how gorgeous is that? Expect to see a lot of plaid papers in my cards now....

The fantastic sketch is from The Sweet Stop challenge # 45. The Secret Crafter is also asking for Stitching for their challenge # 72, so I will enter this over there as well.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card!

Tilda with Balloons

Here is my card for today. Again coloured with Copics. You can't quite tell frmo the photos, but the balloons are 3D. I might have to take a side piccy or something. She is such a cute little Tilda.

The card is for three challenges:

Just Magnolia - Birthdays
Cute Card Thursday - Ribbon-tastic
Friday Sketchers - the sketch

I turned the sketch 90 degrees clockwise for my card

KID ZONE - Imagination at work

Well, I'm still colouring away over here. And cutting into some papers that I've had for ages and been unable to bear to cut.... ! Eeek! I just can't do it. Maybe I should buy two of everything? Hmm...

Here is little Edwin sitting on his pencil. So the paper with the rulers on it seemed really appropriate - as did the apple button. Quite scholastic, don't you agree? I loved arts and crafts at school. So did my husband so I am hoping my kids will too. So far my eldest just manages to get him pencils on himself and the walls, table, me... well, you get the picture.

What do you think of the gawdy bright yellow tape? It seems like a strange thing for me to have in my stash doesn't it? Well, one day while I was browsing the shelves at my local Spotlight, the boys were in their stroller whinging, as kids tend to do when Mummy is busy. So to keep my eldest quiet I grabbed the nearest "kid safe" thing off the shelf... a roll of ugly yellow tape. Then he was quiet and I forgot that he had it. Until the lady at the checkout reminded me with a very direct "are you taking that?", nodding in the direction of the stroller... ARGH!!! Jarred had been EATING the cardboard real that the uglist yellow tape in the world was rolled on. Fabulous. I guess I was taking that... I thought oh well, I'm sure it will get used for something.

Anyway, after a long story I'd better get on with telling you about the card! The sketch is from Sunday Sketch and Stamp #22. All embellies are from my stash. Sentiement is Kaisercraft "Kid Zone" clear stamp set. And the circles are courtesy of Stamptacular Sunday challenge #46 - Going in Circles

A Sunflower for a sunny day

I am seriously LOVIN my new Copics. I coloured this little sweetie up last night and WOW the colours are so vibrant and clear. I love love love Copics.

I used the sketch from The Pink Elephant #55 and the most gorgeous bright and sunny sunflower paper that I found a couple of weeks ago and knew it would be perfect with this stamp. I've stitched around all of the edges 9as I usually tend to do) so I will head over and enter it in Stamp with Fun challenge #47 - Stitching (again..).

A couple of pearls here, some ribbon and a flower there and voila! Its a nice sketch to follow, isn't it?

A little close up of Copic magic...

Magnolia Down Under Challenges # 34 and something new to play with!

Hi all,

Well - I have been twitching and twitching. I ordered something gorgeous to play with about a week and a half ago from the US and I've not really been in the mood to do much while I've been waiting for them to arrive... and guess what was in my mail box this morning!!! Yep - but I will tell you what it was in a minute...

Here is my easel card for this week's Magnolia Down Under Challenges (#34) Make an Easel Card. I have turned my easel card into a little desk calendar.

I have a new stamp of little Edwin from the 2008 Summer by the Sea collection. He is so cute. So I thought he needed a little beach scene to sit on. I finally used a piece of my Magnolia paper with the little clouds. It really hurt to cut it!! And some lemony dotty paper I've had for a while. The 'water' is made using some blue white core card stock through the cuttlebug and sanded to get the waves. The little rock is just some kraft scrap that I've scrunched and inked. And I made the little boat from half a circle and scalloped the edge and some little triangle sails! I was worried what I had in my mind wasn't going to come to fruition when I put it to the card - but it was easy peasy! And lots of fun.

Can you guess what Edwin was coloured with?

A little close up.... some glitter on his little wings :)

And a view of the calendar and some bucket and spade brads....

MY NEW COPICS!!! Yep - that is what I've been waiting for and oh wow - what a joy to colour with. It is going to take a bit of practice, but it will be worth it. Ahhhhhh.... Copics.

Other challenges for this card are...

Stamp with Fun - Stitching
Crafty Creations #55 - Stitching
Saturday Spotlight #19 - Mess around (Distressing, Tearing, Inking edges)
Papersundaes #6 - Distressing

22 February 2010

No cards on this post - just a couple of SPUNKY little boys - and they are mine! The little guy is Aiden and he is 7 1/2 months old. The big guy is Jarred and he is 21 months. We bought them some mid-season PJs on the weekend as the nights are getting a little cooler and these are the first PJs that we've bought them that match. Hehehe - they are going to hate that when they are older.

Anyway, we thought they looked adorable and sat them on the couch together for a piccy and Aiden decided it was time to attack his big brother with some cuteness and two little teeth. There were giggles and shrieks all sorts of noise - and that was just Mum and Dad.

I thought I'd show these piccys on here because I am still grinning like an idiot from all the cuteness and because sometimes I might mention them in a not so positive manner - because they are interrupting my craft time! Priorities boys! But right now I could almost go down to their rooms and wake them up for cuddles.

Wow - I've been working on this card since Thursday! Canyou believe that? I stamped and coloured this little girl on Thursday and have been tinkering with the card ever since. Which seems strange, because it is quite a simple card really.

The sketch is from Just Magnolia week 43.

Other challenges for this card are...

Crafty Creations #55 - Stitching

Friday Sketchers et al

Well after a day off, I am back at my desk. My sister stopped by this morning with her new Sarah Kay stamp so I grabbed it to try myself before she left - Sarah Kay stamps are so cute!

I decided to make a gate fold card for a change as I seem to always make the standard square.

The blue "matress ticking" paper I have had in my stash for at least four years, when I made something for my sister's birthday - before I even started stamping!

The large flower, stripe ribbon and red ribbon are from some gorgeous candy I won last year that I am only just letting myself use. The rest of the embellishments are from my stash.

A little closer for some detail :D

And I decorated inside too! It seemed so plain without the inside finished...

The fantastic sketch from Friday Sketchers week #90

Other challenges for this card are:

The Pink Elephant - Ribbons!
Stamp something - A touch of Spring Somethings!
Totally Gorjuss - Flower Power
Cute Card Thursday - Metal Mania!

18 February 2010

Well, my kids are asleep! I think my "big" boy was over tired tonight as he cried and cried and wanted Mummy to pat him to sleep. He went into his big bed three weeks ago and it only took a week for him to get used to it, but I think when he is over tired it becomes a bit scary again. Its tough being little :D

So tonight I had an opportunity to put ink to rubber on my new stamp that arrived today. It is a CC Designs stamp called Heidi Among the Flowers and she is oh sooo cute! I coloured her mostly in Copics (in my limited colours!!) and did her hair in watercolour pencils.... my fingers were crossed the entire time hoping that the water didn't make the ink run!

For some reason my bow looks a little wonky in the photo - in "real life" it looks fine... must have been the angle I took the photo...hmm...

I used the recipe from All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge - four embellishments, three papers, two colours and one image.

The sketch is from Unscripted Sketches #42

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant - Ribbons
Alphabet challenge - P is for Pink
Crafty Catz - Buttons and Bows
Little Red Wagon - Ribbon
A Spoon full of Sugar - Spring is in the Air

Mojo Thursday Puppy Love

Well, I promised my husband that I would ensure that the ironing was completed this afternoon (as part of my duty statement for 'stay at home mummy"), but this morning my little boys woke up in the most FERAL moods. A trip to the play ground in the hope of wearing them out did not help and now my eldest (21 months) is refusing his afternoon nap and is in his bedroom making lots of noise and most likely a huge mess. I'm expecting to go down there in a minute and find his blocks all over the floor and stuffed toy carnage.

So Mummy had time out at her craft desk, ignoring him. I received this little puppy in my mail box today so I really wanted to ink him up and get colouring. The sketch is Mojo Monday.

I wasn't too pleased with how the little puppy coloured up, but hey, Mummy is grumpy so maybe her colouring abilities are affected? The papers are so bright and fun. Woulda thought that would have helped a bit! I am not really into sentiments (can you tell?) and I dont have many anyway, so I added the paper flower instead. The scrunchy paper flower is anchored with a "build a brad" which I won in the most fabulous candy last year.

A little close up of the pup and the embossed hearts.

Oh man! My husband is gonna be unhappy about this...

Oh man! My husband is going to be a little unhappy when I tell him that I have another addiction... CC Designs stamps!!

A good blogging friend sent me some stamped images of a couple of CC Designs and, well, I'm hooked. HOW DARN GORGEOUS is this little las? She is so much fun to colour and the finished result is really pleasing.

So.. This little sweetie is going over to All That Scraps challenge - make a tri-shutter card... which finishes very very soon...

Bugs and Kisses!

A little Sarah Kay love....

Happy hump day everyone!

I acquired a new stamp today! It is Sarah Kay "Lucy and kitty", isn't she sweet? So out came my Basic Grey stack of Wisteria papers and I started colouring...

Simon Says Stamp have set their challenge as "Whats Love Got to do with It".

All sorts have a recipe with a difference - 3, 2, 1 (3 ofsomething, 2 of something and 1 of something) - I have three pretty flowers, two patterned papers and one charm.

I've distressed most of my layers, for some reason I think Sarah Kay images go really nicely with distressed edges.

15 February 2010

How cute!

How gorgeous is this little guy? His name is Finn and he is a digi image from SJ's Little Musings, her illustrations are amazing. So much fun is captured in them. Sigh, I wish I could draw....

So, on to my card! Its a bit dotty (look hard - both patterned papers have spots and the white embossed label is also dotty) and well, green!

I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers #89 (see the piccy at the bottom of my post). At first I thought eek! I can't do that! So left it a couple of days and today I was all gung ho and this is what happened. The "hide & seek" sentiment is from a Kaisercraft clear stamp set called Kid's Zone which I stamped onto kraft c/s in Versamark and heat embossed with white powder - I haven't done that in a while and I was so nervous! I always seem to botch it so I tend to shy away.. and I confess, it took me a couple of attempts to get it right. All of the papers are Stampin Up. The little tree I cut on the Cricut (using the Zooballoo cartridge if you are interested) for another card yesterday which I didn't end up using and I saw it when I was putting this together and went "...yeeesssss... that could work!". Its always tricky working out what will go on a boys card. I figured one bow was ok - but don't push it.

I am also going to enter the card into the following challenges...

The Pink Elephant #54 - Ribbons
Cupcake Craft #78 - Keep it Simple
Cards for men #4 - GREEN
Charisma Cardz Challenges #6 - Think Male

Just a little .... well, everything really!

This is way way out of my comfort zone! This card is covered in bits and pieces and it seems to work for some reason. So there is some distressing, machine stitching, buttons, bows, flowers, a punched strip, stamped and coloured images, digi sentiment, brads, a little crochet flower and even staples. Yes - staples. Normally I stick to three or so colours (really only so I don't get confused) and papers that are very similar... this card has none of that.

I originally bought the butterfly paper (background layer) because I loved it - but then had no idea what to do with it. Then I was given some of the green stuff and again was unsure and had a bit of a monochrome thing going on in my head... then as I was making the card I found the little bit of scrap black dotty paper and so that went on too.

So! Challenges for this little number are:
Magnolia Down Under - Buttons Flowers & Bows
The Corrosive Challenge - Sew It Up
Saturday Spotlight - Around the house
Stamp with Fun - Sketch
Stamp Something - Something Cute

Creatalicious Challenges "A Little Something"

Well, this is very exciting for me, and most likely Penny and Linda as well. It is our very first challenge as Design Team members for Creatalicious Challenges.

The challenge this month is "Create a Little Something" and all of the Design Team have created some amazing projects.

My "little something" is a set of drawers which measure 12cm high x 10 cm wide x 10 cm deep. They are made from card stock and covered in patterned paper then decorated. I made them to sit on my craft desk so I can store little bits and pieces in them while I am working on various projects. I always seem to get out my embellishments and leave them laying all over my desk and then losing them at the crucial moment. With my little drawers I can store the embellishments for each project in a separate drawer, keeping my desk tidy and my sanity in tact! The little drawer knobs are just little buttons that have been saved my my Mum over the years that she has given to me. Thanks Mum!

The scrunchie paper flower I made with my scallop circle Nestabilities which I bought from Bizzy Becs.

Papers : Cardstock -Bazill White, Kaisercraft - Coco patterned paper in All Spice and Mocha.
Inks : Stampin Up "Creamy Caramel" to "edge" all pieces for the aged look
Other : Buttons, ribbons and flowers and other embellishments from my stash! Nestabilities - Scallop Circle

I {{heart}} Magnolia Down Under Challenges!

Well, I have a couple of exciting things to share with you all before I chat about my card...

The first is... last Sunday Kellie (the gorgeous founder of Magnolia Down Under Challenges) emailed me to invite me to be a guest DT member for a month! What do you think I said? hehehe, well, it was something along the lines of "OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! ", so there we have it - look out for me in June as I will be joining the very talented team at MDUC. How very exciting.

The second exciting news is - I came in the top 5 at MDUC for their last challenge Pink & Grey! Woo hoo! Thank ladies, I am sooo chuffed!

So of course when the new challenge was posted this morning (challenge # 33 - Buttons, Flowers and Bows), I jumped into action and started sifting through my button tin. And here is my finished card...

It is a step card - so that allows a lot of little nooks and crannys to embellish! It might be a little over done, and my husband likes to remind me occassionally "less is more" - but you know what? For once he is WRONG - MORE is more!

So here is a little close up of the lovely Tilda with her basket. I'm back to my watercolour pencils again... so many bright and beautiful colours to choose from... The tree in the background is also a Magnolia stamp. Sorry about all the shaddows - it is pooring her in Canberra - and has been since Friday. Even with the lights on it is hard to get enough light, oh well!

I am also entering this card into the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge # 70 - Multifolds.

Have a great Valentines Day my crafty blogging friends :)

Colour Q for Strawberry Tilda

Oh wow - what a long week. But here we are and it is Friday night! YEA!

I paid a visit to my friend Sharon's place tonight for some crafting and chatting and this is the result of my evening, Strawberry Tilda in some yummy chocolates and pinks.

The colour combo is Colour Q #19 - Regal Rose, Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip and White. The sketch is Sketch Saturday #89.

Oh - and I am sorry about the photos! I had some issues taking pics tonight, my camera doesn't love me anymore.

and I had loads of card and patterned papers left over so why not decorate inside as well.

Have a good weekend!
