Lime Tart Challenge #5

Oh - I've found a new Challenge blog to particiapte in! It is called Lime Tart.

Their recipe is:
Create a Christmas project using stamping – but it cannot be a dedicated Christmas stamp!

So here is my entry. It is a card created using a Stampin Up set called Brocade Basics.

Christmas Stockings

Hello! Something different today - I have been at my sewing machine! Yay! Or so I thought until I began sewing. I am way out of practice. Maybe it was just not my day to sew? Who knows. Anyway, I made this first Christmas stocking last year for my "big" boy, Jarred, he is 18 months old. It is just a panel I bought at Spotlight, cut out, quilted and assembled. It is quilted by hand and let me tell you - it took me ages to finish it. It is pretty big, about 70cm long. We have some cute photos from Christmas Day last year with him in the stocking.

So when it came time to make another one for my "little" boy, Aiden (4.5 months), my mum bought me a "walking foot" for my sewing machine - they are supposed to make machine quilting fun. HA! I gave up very quickly. I am guessing that the walking foot is for straight quilting - not going around seriously tight bends. I lost my patience. I ended up and assembling the stocking without quilting it! It really didn't help that my sewing machine was playing up and chewing thread. And of course, the phone kept ringing! Anyway, it is done. One day I will get them both out and embellish them with bells, beads, buttons and ribbons etc to make them really something special, until then, my boys are still too little to even know what they are. They are really only for Mummy :)

The Pink Elephant challenge #41

And another Christmas card! Of course - I love this time of year. The Pink Elephant Challenges this week had something a little different! A circle card. Its a good thing I invested in some Nestabilities dies a little while ago!

And here is my entry with a Magnolia Santa waiting for Dec 25!

Friday Sketchers #79

Good morning! There is a great little sketch at Friday Sketchers this week's challenge:

So of course I had to use a Magnolia stamp for my entry. This Tilda is such a sweetie.

And a little close up

Thank you Kellie!

As a card maker I always seem to making cards for people, but very rarely is a hand made card given to me. I am guessing that this is the case for everyone out there who enjoys this hobby (addiction)? So I am going to send this card to a card maker! Kellie Winnell - the owner of the Magnolia Down Under store and founder of Magnolia Down Under Challenges. Kellie is also the very generous chicken who gave away the fantastic candy that I won earlier this month.

I am also entering it in the Magnolia Down Under Challenge # 26:

And here is my card for Kellie. It features some of the goodies that were in the candy I won. The Magnolia stamp is Tilda with Strawberry Bucket and I have used some pretty, glittery strawberry paper to keep with that theme. Kellie, I know you love distressing so I have tried to do as much distressing as possible.

And a close up of the green ribbon that I have stamped "thank you" on (even though my pathetic photography doesn't really show it up very well).

Kellie - Keep an eye on your mailbox !! I hope you like pink and green!

17 November 2009

Well, I made one of these for my eldest, Jarred, it was only fair that I made one for little Aiden as well.

This time I used my cuttlebug and various cuttlekids dies to create the animals and of course, my Magnolia monkey (I shall name him Maurice).

Stampavie challenge #17 - Create a little scene

Ooooo - My first Stampavie challenge! I only discovered this challenge the other day and it was too late to join in for their #16 challenge which was a fabulous sketch, but as expected, the next day, the new challenge was up!

The new challenge for this fortnight it is to "Create a little scene" - something I've been dabbling with since I saw the work of Kittie Caracciolo on Split Coast Stampers - she is AMAZING and I was very excited to learn that she was on the design team for Stampavie. Oh wow - I was in a bit of a rush to get started on this and thankfully, my little boys decided to have long naps this afternoon so I could get stuck in...

My card features a Sarah Kay stamp (I have loved these images since I was a little girl and as soon as I found they existed in stamps I just had to have one) and the scene was created by using a Stampin Up! set, Watercolour minis and the tree is a Magnolia stamp. I used an aqua painter and inks for the colouring and the image is stamped on watercolour paper. I used a gold gel pen around the flowers to liven them up a bit.

I have finally found somewhere in my house to put my cards to take decent photographs and this picture actually shows the pearlescent lavendar card that I used for the main base. The little heart buckle is new and I've been itching to use these as well!

So overall, I've managed to get a few things out of my system in this card! Yea!

An Award!

My lovely new "cyber friend" Loz has shared this award with me! Thanks Loz! Click over and check out her work - there is a gorgeous new post on her blog with a digital image of Santa and it is just gorgeous, anyway, I digress...

Friday Sketchers challenge #78

Here is my other project of the night! It features a new stamp I have from Stampavie. I love this image. Do you think that I might be getting into the Christmas spirit? I am a bit disappointed how the colours turned out in the photo. The ribbon threaded through the eyelets is actually a mint satin.

This card is for the Friday Sketchers Challenge #78.

Friday Sketchers this week had this layout:

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #26

Hi! Well, I've been a bit quiet on the crafting front so far this week... there have been other things going on in my house that have taken me from having fun (breaking down cars, sick babies, oh what fun!).

Anyway, last night I managed to have some "me" time this is one of the projects that I finished..

It is for the Magnolia Down Under challenge #26 which had a sketch to follow ... I love it when the challenge is a sketch!

Gorgeous Giraffes!

Aren't these guys lovely!

I just wanted to share them with anyone who passes by, even though I didn't make them myself. I wish I were so talented! I am afraid the patience required for such a project is certainly not possessed by me.

My wonderful mother-in-law actually PAINTED these lovely giraffes, can you believe it? They are height charts for my two boys, Jarred and Aiden. We are supposed to mark the boys heights on those meticulously painted darlings as they grow - I don't know if I can do that! The detail and effort Oma has gone to is just amazing. Something my boys are sure to cherish when they are adults.

An altered canvas for Jarred

This is a little project I have been meaning to finish for a few weeks! An altered canvas for my "big" boy's bedroom. Little Jarred is 18 months old now and I wanted something special in his "space" themed bedroom.

He loves it!

Happy Feet

I went for a little visit to my friend's house last night for some scrapping fun! And this is what I put together....

Here is a detailed shot of the title

And it is really hard to see on the photo, but the two patterned pieces of paper are actually shimmery! Very pretty.

Jacque's Joie de Vivre

I stumbled across a blog of a very talented lady today - her work is just beautiful! Jacque's Joie de Vivre - go and check her out!

She is also generously offering some very sweet blog candy....

Just amazing. It is her 6 month blog anniversary and has had an astonishing 58,000 visits and over 340 followers! Well, it is not surprising with her beautiful card making.

I won! I won!

I am so excited! I won blog candy! And not just any blog candy - BRILLIANT FANTASTIC HUGE blog candy - from Kellie Winnell and her new Magnolia Down Under Store....

Here is a photo of what I won...

So you can see why I am SOOOO excited! Thank you so much Kellie! You are one very generous gal. It is very much appreciated!

I must now insist that everyone rush over to Kellie's store and buy up big! Go! GO!
