Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges

Wow - It is time for another Lil Lollita Boutique Challenge! This week the theme is Christmas in July!

I have used the gorgeous Lylah for my Christmas card. The paper is Kaisercraft and I used some of it to make the origami Christmas tree.

The flower and leaves are either punched or die cut.

The Lil Lolita Boutique girls have put together some really AMAZING stuff for you this week, so please head over and check out their work. They are all such a great group.

We are really enjoying seeing what everyone puts together for us each week, so please, if you have a Lil Lolita, play along! This is a great theme to really see how versatile these stamps are.

Shy Sammy makes an appearance!

Good morning !! Marina has released another digi over at The Stamping Bazaar! This is Shy Sammy. How cute is he? Or is Sammy a she? I guess it is all up to you! There will be two Sammy's shortly - with Sammy with Ball being released in the coming weeks, along with Bikkie the Platypus and a cute Otter. I know I am looking forward to seeing what is going to come next!

I used some sweet papers by Making Memories and coloured Sammy with my Copics. I think I got the fur a little too dark in some places though.
COPIC TIP: When colouring fur, I let the layers of colour dry in between so the ink sits on top of the last layer. If you go too fast, the ink is still wet and the colours start to melt together.
Here is a close up of my colouring. I put some crystal effects on the little hearts to make them shine :) And some spica on his little tuft.

So, I am going to enter this card into two challenges:

A Sweet Message

Yes, yes, yes... more yellow! And more Critters!

I boought this cute little TGF set from Tickled Pink Stamps called "Sweet Message". It comes with this cute little girl but also a cute little matching boy and 5 sentiments! Great! So I had to colour the little girl up first :) The animals are illustrated by the very talented Marina Neira. If you like Marina's work, please stop by her new stamp store The Stamping Bazaar and check out her new stamps. And if you want to WIN two of her new stamps, you'd better go and visit my gorgeous friend Kellie to enter her candy.

And I was a little bit bored with my standard 6x6 square card, so I thought I'd do a rectangle one for a little change. If the papers look a little similar to the ones used in my last card, hahaha, yes... well, I am trying to be good and use up my left overs so they aren't sitting in my drawer. The lace is also from Tickled Pink Stamps.
I found a great little sketch over at The Pink Elephant... but as my card evolved, well, it no longer resembled the sketch at all! Oops.

So - challenges:
Thanks for looking!

A little more white with Sarah Kay

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday to you. I have another little piece of white Copic colouring for Mad for Markers to show you. I have coloured this little Sarah Kay image with a little white top.

I apologise for the photo quality... we'vbe been having some darker weather here in Canberra - all that fog! It makes it a little difficult to get nice light.

I have used Copic colours:
Skin: E13, 11, 00, 93 (cheeks)
Hair: E17, 19
White top: W 0, 1
Hat: YR 23, 20, Y000
Jeans: B 91, 95, 97
Watercan: C 1, 3, 5

And I am going to enter her into:

Magnolia Down Under Challenges #56

Ohh.... Sunday! I love Sundays. So relaxing. And it also means that it is time for a new Magnolia Down Under Challenge!

This week the theme is CHRISTMAS IN JULY...yep, another Christmas in July challenge, lol.

I decided to stay away from making a Christmas card and instead made a pop up card with a "days til Christmas" count down.

I've used three Magnolia stamps - Tilda & Edwin skating, tree background, and holly.
Here is a side view:

The little days til Christmas countdown was made by following a great tutorial by my fabulous MDUC teamie, Tanja which you can see here... Tanja's tutorial shows you how to make the count down wheel with a great download as well. I tried and tried, but because my card is a pop up card and the tutorial is made on an Easel card, I had to make a few little modifications. The mechanics of the wheel though is all thanks to Tanja's tutorial.

The background was air brushed with Copics (B 91, 93) and the "snow" is just white puff paint that I've heated with my heat tool. The images are all coloured with Copics as well and there is quite a bit of stickles on here as well.

Pearls and swirls and Sarah Kay

Ohhh.... the start of the weekend. I hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend planned.

My card below is actually one I made for my Mum's birthday. The image is Sarah Kay "Isabelle with puppy Coco". Such a sweet image. It is coloured with Copics.

The lace doily, pearl Flourish with a Bling and cute sunhat charm are from Tickled Pink Stamps.

Bizzy Becs has a "Pearls and Swirls" competition this month, so I'll pop over and try my luck there. And Cupcake Crafts challenge this week is "Cats and Dogs", so we'll try over there too.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Its Friday - Let your hair down!

**Edited to add - my Rapunzel card made the Top 5 at Fussy and Fancy challenges! Thanks so much!**

Look what Kellie has new in store at Tickled Pink Stamps - its the new released Kraftin Kimmie Fairytale stamps!

This one is Rapunzel - look at all of that amazing hair! I kept my card a bit simple so the detail of the stamp is not hidden amongst a big bunch of flowers.

I coloured her in Copics - and used seven different markers on her hair - thats more than I used on the rest of the image, lol.

I am going to try mu luck at a couple of challenges with her too:

Kraftin Kimmie - Beautiful Bows
Everybody Art - Blue & White
Paper Sundaes - Make your own flowers
Fussy and Fancy - Scallops, Stitching and Sparkle

She comes with an accessory stamp and a sentiment - how fantastic is that?

There is a massive 10% off at Tickled Pink Stamps at the moment.

Actually, some stamps are discounted up to 35%!

Sooo.... if you like her (and who wouldn't), why don't you treat your self to Rapunzel, or one of her new Kraftin Kimmie Fairytale sisters? Or anything Kellie has in stock at Tickled Pink Stamps? She has Magnolia, TFG, CC Designs, Pink Cat Studio, of course Lil Lolitas, can't forget those lovlies. And there is also a great range of embellishments as well.

How Angelic!

Wow - how cute is this little fella? He is Little Angel on Cloud from The Stamping Bazaar. He arrived in my inbox first thing this morning and when my little "Angels" were supposed to be having their afternoon naps I coloured him up. I didn't think I'd get him on a finished card though, but thankfully the boys just played for a little bit longer while I indulged.

The lace border, tag and swirls are all from those addictive little Magnolia Doo Hickeys - if you like them, be sure to visit Tickled Pink Stamps for yours. The lace doily is also from Tickled Pink Stamps.

The papers are Websters Mini Pages and my edges are sponged with Distress ink.

The Little Angel is coloured in Copics. There is also a fair bit of stickles all over the card for good measure.

I'm going to send him over to Papertake Weekly Challenges to play with their Cutie Patootie challenge.

NOW - If you haven't entered Mad for Markers "Colouring White Objects" challenge yet, why not purchase this cute Little Angel on Cloud and get out your Copics - he is just perfect!

Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges #7

Hello! And welcome to Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges #7. This week we are looking for a c olour combo - purple, pink and cream!

At first I was a little nervous about this colour scheme... where to start? But then I discovered this gorgeous K & Company paper "Lofty Nest" - perfect! It is a little hard to tell from the photo, but the darker pink is actually foil and so shiny!

The cute cream fringe ribbon is from Tickled Pink Stamps.

I have used '60 Mod Ivy from the Fashionette Collection and given her black hair (using Copics 100, C7, 5, 3, 1) and coloured her little shift in pink (R81, 83, 85) and cream (E40, 41) with some purple accessories (BV 11, 13) and some silver gel pen on her belt buckle.

The sketch that I followed is from Tickled Pink Stamps Monthly Challenges - which runs until August 7, so if you like it, head over and play along. The papers and sketch make Ivy look as though she is standing in front of some funky '60 decor screens!

Choc and Mint and a fluffy friend

Hi everyone! Here is another gorgeous little digi critter from The Greeting Farm by Marina Neira. When I saw this little koala, I had to have him. He is Harold Drums. I can't believe I didn't try these cuties before! I am really looking forward to Marina's new images being released.

In the meantime, Tickled Pink Stamps now have TGF sets - including a couple of the cuties by Marina! Yep, there are some on their way to me, hehehe, oops.

Anyway, he is coloured with Copics and the papers are a combo of Cosmo Cricket (Joy Ride) and Kaisercraft (Up and Away). I've use my Magnolia Doo Hickeys again for the flower and choc leaf and sprayed them in glimmer mist.

And here he is close up.

The colour combo is a little new to me, but I just love it! So earthy. The edges are sponged with Distress Ink Old Paper.

The sketch is from Double Dutch #48 and I am also going to enter him into :
Stamp Something - Something Digital
Creative Inspirations colour challenge - Chocolate and Mint
The Crazy Challenge - Boys will be boys
Papertake Weekly - Cutie Patootie

Enjoy the rest of your day!

A white fur seal

How cute is this little guy? He is from TGF and is called Robbie Seal. He is a digi stamp and was illustrated by Marina Neira. After colouring Marina's new digi stamp, Hansel with Flowers the other day, I had to go in search of more of her designs.

And this little seal cutie fit perfectly with Mad for Markers Colouring White challenge this month!

I've coloured Robbie with Copics:
W 0, 1, 3,
B 21, 23
Y 35, 38
R 22, 24, 27
YR 01, 000
The cute paper is Sasafrass Lass and Cosmo Cricket.

Amelia for Club Anya Wild Card Wednesday

So... my third post of the day! Wow. I've been busy lately.

This little cutie is Amelia from the "My Favourite Things" set by The Greeting Farm. This is my first ever TGF set - and I love them. I have little Oliver all coloured up and ready to go on a card as well... but maybe tomorrow ;)

I've used the colour combo from Club Anya's Wild Card Wednesday colour challenge - Melon, Chocolate and Aqua. There are a few other colours in the card, but mostly these three.

The charm, mesh ribbon, stamp, and lace doily are all from Tickled Pink Stamps.

I love her hair - such a cute little girl.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The Stamping Bazaar - Hansel with Flowers

**Edited to add - I came in the top 5 at Stamp Something Challenges with my Hansel card :) **

Hehehehe - well, my little Hansel digi from The Stamping Bazaar arrived in my inbox. And while my little boys were having their afternoon naps, I set about colouring him and putting him to home on a card.

I used the last of my favourite Bo Bunny Kitchen Spice papers, but oh, Hansel is worth it. The little check paper is Cosmo Cricket "Material Girl". The swirls, leaves and lace border are all Magnolia Doo Hickeys (haha, yep addicted to those) and my Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch for the flowers.

Here is a close up of the coloured image. I textured his fur and fluffy hair with my Copics. If you don't have a little Hansel yet, what are you waiting for? He is a dream to colour.

Stamp Something has a great challenge this week - Something Digital!

Oh - My lace doily and Magnolia Doo Hickeys are from Tickled Pink Stamps!

Here comes the Bride (and Groom!)

After colouring up this cute little Magnolia wedding couple for my Mad for Markers colouring white tutorial, I had to put them on a card! This is the first time I've made a mostly white card, and I am really happy how it turned out.

I used three of my four my new Magnolia Doo Hickeys and stamped around the edges of the image and on the flower with the Magnolia "New Years Swirl" in distress ink and also sponged the edges of both. The flower, leaves and swirl are all sprayed with glimmer mist as well.
The sketch is from this week's Just Magnolia challenge (#64) by the talented Bev. It is a great sketch to play with. And I am going to play with Stampavie and More as well as their challenge is "Anything Goes".
The image, Doo Hickeys dies and papers are all Magnolia are from Tickled Pink Stamps. The lace and distres inks are also from Tickled Pink Stamps.

16 July 2010

The Stamping Bazaar!!

Have you seen the new stamp company that has just started up? It is called The Stamping Bazaar and the cute stamps are designed by no other than the incredibly talented Marina Neira - you will have seen her gorgeous work with Motivet and The Greeting Farm.

I meant to go and visit their store and blog earlier this week when I saw the awesome card Kellie made, but just didnt get there. Now it is Friday night (woo hoo) I have just been over there and bought little Hansel so I'm not so patiently awaiting his arrival in my inbox.... (click "send and receive", "send and receive", "send and receive") and so I thought I'd do my bit and spread the word while I am waiting.

Next week another image is being released - I am so looking forward to it - it is so cute and called "Little Angel on Cloud" which you can preview HERE, and well, we all know how much I love little boys and clouds, lol. Very cute.

So if you haven't left me by now, please go and visit The Stamping Bazaar and have a look.... I'm off to check my inbox again.....

(Oh - and have a great weekend!)

Mad for Markers - Tutorial - Colouring "white" images

Hi everyone! Happy Friday to you all. I am here with my Friday Mad for Markers post with a tutorial on colouring images to appear white.

Well, of course, we could just leave the image, after all, the cardstock was white - yes? But we want to add depth and shape so the image appears 3d. This is very easy to achieve using our grey Copics.

I have two examples for you today, the first using E's and W's and the second example using only W's. I have chosen the warm greys as they tend to be used on natural materials, such as clothing. Cool greys tend to be used on metals or man made materials. This is not to say that you can only use greys to colour white. On snow people, I tend to use my very pale blues B000 or B0000, but you can use any of the 000 or 0000 numbered Copics from any of the colour families, depending on the "hue" you wish your image to take on.

The first example is this Magnolia wedding couple image. I want Tilda's dress to appear ivory and Edwin's shirt to appear white. As they are standing together, it would look a little strange if their clothes merged in one colour, so I've chosen slightly different colours.

First of all, on Tilda's dress, I have used E50. This is a nice pale cream colour. I have very lightly outlined the edges of her dress, and the under sides of the pleats on the front of her dress

I have then lightly feathered this out with my E000 and to soften those edges, I 've used my blender 0 so there is no harsh edge to the colour.

As the cardstock is white and she is very pale, I want her to stand out from the page. To make something that you have coloured "white" stand out from your white background, you choose a corrosponding colour to outline it. This is a picture of the Copic colour wheel. You can see that I have circled the group of E colours in red and also the B group. These two groups are opposite each other and are contrasting. As I want my outline to be very subtle, I have chosen B0000.

And here you can see the finished image. You can see the very faint B0000 outline and the shape to Tilda's dress. I have also coloured Edwin's shirt using W1 and W0 in the same method.

I have also used W greys to colour this image of Mummy Edwin:

He was a little bit more work, with all of his bandages. I have coloured him with W3, 1 and 0.

Here you can see a bit more of the detail

I hope you found this tutorial easy to follow and I look forward to seeing some of your colouring on white items soon!
Copics used to complete the images:
Wedding Couple:
Tilda's skin - E11, 00, 000, R00 (blush)
Tilda's hair: E31, YR20, Y23
Tilda's dress: E50, E000
Tilda's flowers: R32, 30, 00, 000, YG 91, 95
Edwin's Skin: E13, 11, 00, 02
Edwin's hair: E57, 55, 31
Edwin's shirt: W1, W0
Edwin's pants: E57, 55, 53
Outline: B0000

Mummy Edwin:
Bandages: W3, 1, 00
Skin: E11, 00, 000

Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges # 6

Hi there Lil Lolita fans! This week's challenge over at Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges is a photo inspiration - these funky and gorgeous shoes!

I've used the colours as my inspiration. I just LOVE the hot pink with the black and white. Really pretty! I've used Lilith from the original collection and have stamped around her with a little heart in hot pink.

The white square doily, rose charm, pink pearls (in the corners) and the black fringe ribbon are from Tickled Pink Stamps.
The challenge runs for a week, so get out those Lil Lolitas and get colouring!

Creatalicious Challenge - Challenge #12!

Good morning! It is time for anther Bizzy Becs Creatalicious Challenge! This month we are looking for something 3D - this can be anything ( a box, paper tole, bag...etc... the possibilities are endless...)

I have created a little paper watering can and matching gift tag.

The tag features a cute Sarah Kay image "Spring Blossoms" and is coloured with Copic markers. I've distressed all of the edges and added an eyelet and raffia bow.

I found a template for the watering can via an internet search and printed it out on my DP. I've added some tiny butterflies punched with my Martha Stewart Punch and some raffia.

The rest of the DT have also come up with some amazing projects to share with you, so please go and check out their work. You have until August 14 to enter!

14 July 2010

Mermaid Tilda

Good morning! I had a little bit of a play last night with a cute Magnolia image of Tilda as a mermaid. She is from 2007, so a little older - hasn't she changed over the years?

The card is a little different for me as I haven't used my sewing machine! All of the edges are distressed with my Tim Holtz distressing tool (new from Make it Crafty) and Tim Holtz distress ink from Tickled Pink Stamps. Those amazing pearl flourishes are by Flourish with a Bling from Tickled Pink Stamps as well. They are so pretty IRL.

I've coloured Tilda in Copic markers. I'm not so happy with the colouring on the rock, but I'll keep practicing! Tilda's tail and wings are coated in crystal effects and I've added loads of Spica to her hair as well.
Stamps: Magnolia - "Tilda som havsfrue" (I call her Mermaid tilda, lol), New Years Swirl (2008) and sentiment.
Papers: Websters Pages mini deck, Kraft and white cardstock
Inks: Mememto tuxedo black, Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Old Paper (Tickled Pink Stamps),
Copic Sketch Markers and Spica at You (Mad for Markers)
Other: Flourish with a bling - "Grace" in Latte (Tickled Pink Stamps), Kaisercraft rhinestones, Martha Stewart punch for flowers, raffia and charm from my stash, antqiue brad SU!.
So, I am going to enter this card into two challenges:
Just Magnolia week 63 - a recipe: 3 flowers, 2 papers and 1 ribbon (I hope raffia counts as ribbon!), and
Stampavie and More #102 - Anything goes!
I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! I'm sitting looking out my window and the sky is beautiful blue and sunny - but it is deceiving - it is only 8 degrees celcius here in Canberra today - brrrrrr. It is much nicer to look outside than to actually BE outside! Bring on spring!!!

Magnolia Down Under Challenges # 54

Hi! Thanks for stopping by to visit me today. I have something close to my heart to show you today, it is my youngest's first birthday card. He turned one on 1 July and so I made this for him, which served the dual purpose of being my creation for Magnolia Down Under Challenges # 54 - Something for the Boys.

The gorgeous Princess Kristy let me borrow her cute little Lion and Elephant stamps (thanks so much Kristy!!) and I used this card from Chris Dark as my inspiration for the tree background. I loved Chris' card when I saw it and she was sweet enough to point me in the right direction to download the file for my Cricut (thank you so much Chris - I hope you like what I did with "your" background!). After I cut the trees onto kraft cardstock, I used Debbie P's faux wood technique on them (yes, I use it a lot, lol). The images are coloured with Copics.

And here is a little close up of my cute little animals, they were so much fun to colour. Magnolia really should do more of these little guys!

So dont forget to check out what the rest of the fabulous DT have created to inspire you! And you have until Saturday midday (AEST) to enter.

1960's Hippie Willow - TPS Challenge, Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges and Color Throwdown!

Oh wow - this is a loooonnnng post - but it is for three reasons!!

Firstly, let me show you my card.... It features the GORGEOUS Lil Lolita from the Fashionette collection "Hippie Willow" (only available from Tickled Pink Stamps!)

So now, the three reasons!
  1. It is time for challenge # 5 at Lil Lolita Boutique Challenges and this week we are looking for RIBBONS!!
  2. It is also time for the new Tickled Pink StampsMonthly Challenge - and this month we have a great sketch for you created by none other than our fabulous Boss Lady, Kellie.
  3. AND Tickled Pink Stamps are sponsoring the Color Throwdown 100th challenge celebration with the challenge to use REGAL ROSE, BAJA BREEZE, CERTAINLY CELERY AND REAL RED.

So I could have made a separate card for all three of these... but... OMG! I just didn't have time for that... so I combined the three challenges into one.

Now that in itself was a bit of a challenge. The ribbons - no problems there! Easy Peasy - thanks Boss Lady! The sketch - ok, got it. Okey dokey, two down, one to go... the colours?! OMG - what a tricky combination! I struggled with these until.... I found this gorgeous piece of MME paper hiding all the way down the bottom of my drawer - wooo hooo! Problem solved.

The rest, well, Willow is coloured with Copic markers, the giant flower is Heidi Swapp, the peace charm is from Tickled Pink Stamps.

There are some AWESOME prizes up for grabs, so why not enter all three? And at the very least, check out what the DTs have created for you and let them know you've been to visit with a nice comment. There is some awesome talent out there!

And thanks for visiting me too today :)
