Edwin on holidays in Australia

Oh boy it is HOT here today! It is forecast to be 39 oC (which is 102 oF for everyone over in the USA) and I think we have reached that! It is also very windy so ideal weather for bushfires... fingers crossed everyone obeys the total fire ban.

This card was fun to make! It is a frame card for the January challenge at Magnolia-licious Highlites. There is great little tutorial by Claudia Rosa which you can find HERE.

For my frame card I used three Magnolia stamps for this project:

Edwin with Bike (Lazy Summer Days collection)
Waterfall background (Tilda and Edwins Pet collection), and
Tip Leaves (Tilda and Edwins Pet collection)

The layers are a bit clearer here:

Being a card for a boy, it was hard to choose embelishements. Normally I would go all out with flowers, etc, but I had to really retrain myself and just add the little wooden butterfly button and some metal charms. Over at Paperplay Challenges this week they are asking for "Precious Metal" so I thnk this qualifies!

My husband's Oma (grandma) arrived in Australia from The Netherlands last night and is currently resting at my In-laws house just around the corner so we are very anxious to see her and catch up. It is the first time she has visited us since our boys were born so it is going to be a very exciting reunion! It is because of her visit that I was inspired to add the little kangaroo on the inside of my card. I've had this little Cuttlekids die for a little while and I just hadn't had an opportunity to use it, so instead of little Edwin going on a cycling tour in Africa (where I think this waterfall background is supposed to represent) I decided he was on holidays here in Australia. And because he is on hols here in Australia, I thought it might be nice to take the photos of the card outside in my backyard. We live in an acre block which backs onto a mountain reserve so we get all kinds of native wildlife at the back fence (kangaroos, echidnas, lizards, beautiful birds), and sometimes actually in the yard!

And another that I was not venturing outside to photograph!

Sorry! That was a really long post!
