TOMIC - Tina's Sketch and Inspiration Pic - Gustavian Style

Hi everyone! Are you ready for some luxury and elegance? The new challenge at TOMIC this week is just perfect if you are. Not only do we have the most fantastic sketch by Tina to play wtih, there is also the theme of Gustavian Style with a stunning inspiration photo to get your creative juices flowing.

For my card, I took inspiration from the lovely gold detailed furniture and the cute kitty :) I guess it is kind of obvious, but the fabulous Vintage Chair from the You are so Special Collection was the perfect choice for this challenge.  If you are curious about Gustavian Style, you can read about it HERE. There are lots of fabulous hints.

I've used Magnolia papers for my and some Prima lace (the darker cream lace) and a mix of flowers from Magnolia, Petaloo and WOC.  The Vintage chair was inked in Versamark and embossed with gold EP. Tilda and her kitty are both coloured quite pale in Copics.

I hope you have a chance to play along with this challenge this week. It was heaps of fun, I just loved the inspiration pic and reading about the style inspired by King Gustav III.

I would love to enter a couple of challenges with this card as well....
Fashionable Stamping Challenge - Vintage
Gingerloft - Vintage
Simon Says - Use Dies or Punches

Have a great day!

Wild Orchid Crafts 33 - Make it Sparkle with Stars

Ohhh - Christmas is getting closer! Just three months to go! And yes, I have finally started to get into the Chrissy mood.  The new challenge at Wild Orchid Crafts Challenges today is to "Make it Sparkle with Stars" so I thought I'd make a little candle holder decoration.

What a great opportunity to break out the German Glitter Glass. OMG. I am in love with this stuff. I've used two types on my candle holder - 100 grit and 80 grit.  I recycled an olive jar and when clean, dipped the rim in glue and then Silver German Glitter Glass 80 Grit. It gives a pretty sparkly result doesn't it?  Then I've used some of the stunning Purple German Glitter Glass in 100 Grit on the star. It is stuck in place with Glossy Accents. It is just perfect for German Glitter Glass.

I've used quite a few Wild Orchid Crafts goodies for my candle holder - White Seam binding, Large and Small Poinsetias, Lace, 10 mm Open Roses, Button Twine, Silver bells, Pearl Spray.

There is some pretty cheesecloth under the gorgeous Magnolia paper which I've punched around with my fav MS punch. The adorable stamp is from last year's Magnolia Christmas Collection "Merry Little Christmas" - Tilda with Star. I think she is one of my favourites. Although I can not wait to get my hands on this year's Chrissy collection - have you seen them yet? I am just GREEN with envy of my crafty friends who were lucky enough to get to Stampel Mekka this year and get them early - you lucky lucky ladies!!

I would like to enter a couple of challenge as well....
Fun with Shapes - Christmas and stars
If the Shoe Fits - Bejewelled Blue
Fashionable Stamping Challenges - Vintage
Paper Sundaes - Anything Goes
CES Challenge - Recycle

And just to make you smile, here are my two best ever creations - my little boys! They are 'helping' me while I am trying to take pics of my candle holder, lol. They thought it was great fun blowing out the candle over and over. Cheeky little monkeys!

And the cheekiest monkey of all, my eldest. What a smile. Every day he begins to look more and more like his Daddy. I am the luckiest Mum in the world to have two amazing little boys. I fall in love with them both more and more every single day.

Ok, enough sappiness from me :) I'll let you get back to your day.
Thanks for visiting me!
Big hugs

MDUC #115 - Fancy Folds

<---------Don't forget to enter my candy.... 7 chances left to win!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning! It is time for a new challenge at MDUC! This week the challenge is Fancy Folds. I couldn't wait to make one of these shadow box cards again, this one is actually for my sister's birthday which is today! Happy Birthday Nai! If you are looking for some instructions, you can find my tutorial HERE.
I was searching through all of my stamps and came across this little cutie pie. I just love all of the Magnolia stamps but the A Little Yummy collection is definitely one of my all time favourites. This is Blueberry Tilda and I've used both the full sized Tilda and the mini Tilda.
The papers are Lilybea Design (I think - I'll have to double check) and I just adore this gorgeous lavender colour.  The inside image is Blueberry Tilda masked with the Heart Fence.
The images are all coloured with Copics. The pretty paper lace edge is cut with Magnolia Doo Hickey Dies.
The mini Tilda is stamped on Make it Colour cardstock and then trimmed and mounted on 3d tape onto bazzil, which was die cut with the new Doo Hickey doily die.
The amazing flowers are all Wild Orchid Crafts. There will be a new challenge up at WOC challenges tomorrow so make sure you check it out :o)
I would like to enter my card into some challenge myself.....
Alpacas!
Hi there :o)  I thought I would involve you all in a conversation that we've been having in our house for a few weeks now....it revolves around the topic of those adorable fluffy animals - Alpacas.
When we move to our new place 'in the bush', I would love to fulfil a dream that I've had since school - to have a herd of alpacas. My hubby isn't so keen ;o)  He doesn't want the responsibility.
I just don't know how he can resist this adorable face!
I've been researching these cute darlings and they seem like they are quite an easy animal to have on a property.
So my question to you all - does anyone who reads my blog keep alpacas? I would love to hear from you if you do! How much care to they really require? Please help me make my case so I can adopt some of these adorable animals into my family.
Have a great day!
Shadow Box Card Tutorial
Hello there!  I had some questions regarding my Shaddow Box Card from THIS POST and thought I would do a quick tutorial on how to do it (although it is pretty picture heavy so probably not as quick as I thought it would be hahah) :o)  Also, it has been a while since I did a tutorial, so bear with me!
Step1 - Start out with a 12x12 sheet of double sided designer paper. It is important that it is double sided as both sides are visible on the finished card.  Cut the end off the paper at 9.5 inches. Select which side of the paper you wish to be on the outside. I tend to work with that side up to score, but it is up to you :o)
Step 2 - With the paper horizontally, score at 1 1/4 inch, 3 5/8 inch, 8 3/8 inch and 10 3/4 inch
Step 3 - Turn your paper vertically, and score at 2 3/8 inch and 7 1/8 inches
Step 4 - Using your scoring tool, ensure all scores are nice and sharp.
Step 5 - Fold in one side at the 3 5/8 inch score and then fold the 1 1/4 inch flap back.
Step 6 - Repeat on the other side and then flatten with your scoring tool
Step 7 - Unfold your 'wings' and fold the top and bottom sections into the middle and flatten with your score tool.
Step 8 - Now is the tricky bit. Unfold the top and bottom again, and fold the sides back in. Unfold the flap and holding your score tool diagonally along the square that is formed by the scores, fold the corner up.  Repeat this on all four corners.
You can see from this pic that the 'flaps' are not folded in this process.
This is what your paper will look like:
Step 9 - Unfold your paper again...
Step 10 - (oops pic is a bit blurry, sorry!) Fold one side piece in and carefully pull one of the triangle sections down from the top, repeat from the bottom
Step 11 - Then fold the flap piece back over this section
Step 12 - Repeat on the other side.  Flatten everything out with your score tool so the edges are nice and crisp.
 Step 13 - If you now carefully pull open the flap pieces, your box will open to look like this....
Step 14 - Carefully ease in the top and bottom edges at the points so the box will now collapse inwards when you close it
Step 15 - Use your score tool again to flatten everything out.
Step 16 - with the remaining piece of patterned paper we cut off at the beginning, we can make a belly band.   The finished card measures approx 4 3/4 inches.
 I haven't finished my shadow box card today - you'll have to wait until Sunday to see the finished product - hint hint...... !!  I hope the instructions make sense! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment or email me and I will do my best to help. Sorry all of my measurements are in inches. My score board is imperial, lol. If I get a chance at some stage, I'll convert them to metric for you.
Also - don't forget to enter my candy!! See the sidebar on the top left!!
Thanks for your visit! Hugs xx
MDUC #114 - Inspiration Pic
Good morning! It is MDUC time again :) This week we have a gorgeous inspiration photo for you to play with. It is just beautiful. I thought it was a fantastic opportunity to ink up the most adorable stamp from The Winner Takes It All collection - Yoga Tilda. As soon as I saw her I HAD to have her. She is just the cutest.
I've masked Tilda with the Stone Path from the Butterfly Dreams collection and the gorgeous Birch Tree from 2007.
The gorgeous butterfly is a Magnolia Doo Hickey die, as is the branches. The fun gold coil things are from Magnolia too. I just love these.
So here it is - it is a little door hanger. The pink seam binding and mini pink roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts. All of the edges are inks with DI Antique Linen and I've punched around the edge with my MS Cherish punch set. The letters are from Prima. I'm a bit in love with the new Prima collections so expect to see a bit more ;)
I hope you have time to come and play at MDUC this week. We are sponsored by Tilda's Town this week with a lucky winner receiving a $15 gift voucher.
Rosy Wilma
Hi! It is time for more fun and games at both Pink {INK} and Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges!
This fortnight at Pink INK it is my turn to host! We have a terrific sponsor - Love to Stamp.
My sketch is a fairly easy one to play with. I live to leave as much as possible for you to interpret so I can't wait to see what you come up with. The DT have created amazing jaw dropping cards to share with you again. They are so creative these girls!
I have combined my card for Pink {INK} with my Fuzzy Wuzzy challenges DT again. The challenge at Fuzzy Wuzzy is PINK for this month. It is our last month and the DT are self sponsoring with some of us giving away the prizes - so there are multiple prizes to be won.
I've used Magnolia's Wilma from the Right Through my Heart collection and also some of their gorgeous Magnolia Ink papers. The flowers are all Petaloo.
For once I have managed to decorate the inside of my card! haha.
For my little prize for Fuzzy Wuzzy ... I have this adorable Lili of the Valley stamp to give away....
All you have to do is enter the challenge over at Fuzzy Wuzzy to be in the running to win.
That is it for me today, I will be back with some more cuteness tomorrow for MDUC.
In the meantime, I have some candy running - there are EIGHT chances to win between now and Christmas with a new prize each fortnight. The first has a week left to enter... so check it out HERE
Well, have a great Saturday! We're fixing up our house to sell these next few weekends so busy busy!!
See you tomorrow
Flower Topiary Frame
Hi there everyone, I have a non-stamped project to share with you today for Wild Orchid Crafts.  I have had this shaddow box frame in my stash for a little while waiting for me to do this project.  I am slowly crossing things off my 'must make' list.
 I wanted to make this frame for a little friend of mine who has just had her 7th birthday. She is a very girly girl and I wanted to make something pink and blingy for her... a perfect excuse to get out the gorgeous German Glass Glitter.
I have a gorgeous pot of the Silver glitter and I thought it would be fun to embellish the gorgeous roses with for some extra sparkle. The instructions to do this are on the Wild Orchid Crafts blog.
 The flowers and other embellishments used for this project are listed below...
German Glitter Glass - Silver (perfect for all of your Christmas projects!), Ivory Insertion Lace, White Cotton LaceSilver Filigree Corners, Seam Binding in Rose Petal, Small Flat Gardenia in 2 tone Pink25mm Wild Roses in pinkPink Tulips, 6mm closed rose buds in White.
I hope you like my frame and it inspires you to have a bit of a play with your German Glass Glitter.
Have a great weekend,
TOMIC #15 - Theme and Colour combo
Woo hoo!! It is time for our next challenge at TOMIC!
This week we have a really yummy challenge for you... in fact, I am hungry just thinking about it. This week we are looking for a theme with a colour combo....
Chocolate (brown & cream)
"The colours brown and cream are mandatory and have to be dominant.
The chocolate theme can be illustrated by recipe, word, decorations, theme...
You must use a Magnolia stamp which is cooking related from the numerous collections of Magnolia stamps. "
(from the TOMIC blog)
For my card, I  have used a sheet of Prima paper that I have been saving for at least a year. It was time to use it I think !  I folded the paper into a Shaddow Box card. I recently discovered these but the format was too small for me so I've altered it so it is finished approx 5 inches square.
The images are Chef Tilda and "A Little Yummy" sentiment from the A Little Yummy collection, Strawberry from Lazy Summer Day collection and the  Love Muffin (I'll have to check the collection that one for you, sorry!!). The images are coloured with DIs on Archers Watercolour paper.
We would love for you to join us at TOMIC this week! I think we're all going to gain a few kilos while we're commenting hahaha.
Have a great week. I'll be back tomorrow with something else to share with you!
Hugs xx
