Magnolia Down Under Challenges - Edwin Fishing

Oh dear, I'm off to a bit of a slow start this morning. Our power went off some time during the night so when we woke this morning we had no idea what time it was, the clock was flashing. But the sun was shining, lol, so we managed a bit of a sleep in thanks to the power company, haha.

My card today is for Magnolia Down Under Challenges. This week the challenge is a sketch by me.  I was sitting at my desk earlier in the week unsure what image to colour or where to start with this card, then my friend Karen challenged me to make a card using an Edwin stamp so out came this oldie but goodie.

Can you tell I have a new punch around the page set? lol. Its been getting a little work out lately. The papers are all Websters. Edwin was coloured using Copics and the background done with Prisma pencils.

It was great fun playing with an older stamp and making a male card for a change. I hope you get a chance to come and play at MDUC this week and try out my sketch for yourself :)

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:

Thanks for visitinng me today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Cute Card Thursday #166 - A sketch!

Hiya everyone! As promised, I'm back with my Cute Card Thursday dt card. The challenge this week is a really nice sketch to play with.

This is Tilda with Hawaiian flower from the Butterfly Dreams collection. She is such a sweetie. I think she has to be my favourite stamp from the collection.

The papers are a mix of Prima Annalee (my fav) and Jillibean Soup Blossom Soup. The bookpage is from Little Women. All have been given a bit of a white wash to tone them down a bit and make them look a little shabby.

I had a bit of fun with this card :)

I would like to enter it in these challenges

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of the week!

Whiff of Joy Challenges 105 - Manuela's sketch

Oops - I am not sure what happened.. this post was supposed to go up yesterday! Anyway, better late than never I suppose...

There is a new challenge over at Whiff of Joy challenges. This fortnight we have a fantastic sketch by gorgeous Manuela.

I have used an older Whiff of Joy stamp and made a boy card. The stamp is Oakley on Scooter and I think it is from 2008.  The papers are October Afternoon from an old pad I've had sitting in my drawer for about a year, hehe. The sentiment is from Tickled Pink Stamps.

I'll be back a bit later on with my Cute Card Thursday card to share :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Tickled Pink Stamps Lil Perfect Match release - Christina

Welcome to release TWO for Tickled Pink Stamps for May! Why two releases? Well... May marks the first anniversary of the Lil Lolitas - its time to celebrate!  We have something a little special for this release... this release is "Lil Perfect Match" - Kellie and Christina have decided to pair up some of the Lolitas and Lads with some... 'other halves'... and to kick off the release we are starting with a new character - Christina! Yup - she is modelled on the designer herself - Christina Dee. Now... I am a huge fan of Lil Lolita Lilith, as a lot of you are, but... sorry Lilith... I think I have a new favourite....

I have made a sort of off centre, overlapping gate fold card.. sorry, I am not sure how else to describe it :) I have used both Christina (on the front of the card) and her "Perfect Match" - Lil Lad Eric on the inside of the card. I've also used the fabby sentiment set from the February release "Valentines Sentiments" which also has a matching die (that I didn't use sorry)... I am pretty sure that Kellie has restocked the store with the sentiment set so you should be able to purchase Lil Lad Eric and the sentiments now...you don't have to wait until the big release.... Speaking of which! the release will occur on the 31st of May at midnight with a big pink blog hop... so don't disappear, we would love to see you back for that.

I coloured Christina and Eric to look a tad like my Hubby and I :) It is our 5th wedding anniversary in June so I thought it would make a cute anniversary card.  Red is my favourite colour right now and I am loving the shabby look so I tried to meld the two together... I'm not so certain red and shabby mix, lol.

The pretty lacey doily is a Magnolia Doo Hickey die which I have cut in two halves to form the oval shape.
I love the paper that I used, it has been in my stash for close to a year and I've only just been able to use it. It is by Making Memories and the creamy white pattern is glossy and embossed.

I hope you love Christina as much as I do! Please visit the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to check out the gorgeous creations by the Pink Ladies.

I would like to enter my card into these challenges:
Midnight Madness - Sketch 105
Anything Goes Challenges - Bingo (Buttons, flowers, charms)
Bunny Zoes - Lace
By the Cute and the Girly - Anything Goes
Paperplay - Sparkle Galore
Simon Says Challenge - Sparkle and Shine

Thanks so much for looking! I'll be back tomorrow with my WoJ Challenge card :) Have a great day!

Christmas in May

Good morning! I hope you are having a great weekend so far.

My card today is for Magnolia Down Under Challenges #97 - Christmas in May. I've inked up cute little Tilda with Star and watercoloured her. I messed her dress up a bit (hehehe) so I've paper pieced it to cover it up.

The card shape was cut on my cricut and I've distressed and stitched all of the edges.

I don't know about you, but I bought so many stamps from the Merry Little Christmas collection last year and a lot of them didn't get much love (very bad!) so this challenge was a fantastic opportunity to have a little play and to get ahead for this Christmas.

We'd love to see you join us in getting into the Christmas spirit this week. The DT has done an amazing job once again, so please pop on over to check out their work.

Some challenge to enter are:

Thanks for visiting me today! Don't forget I have a little candy running, don't forget to enter :)

Lets get Krafty!

Hello! Its almost Friday again! Just a quick post today.

There is a new challenge this week at Cute Card Thursday - Lets get Krafty! We would like to see you colour and stamp on kraft cardstock.  I found this a little challenging... my first attempt was with Prisma pencils and wow, it looks terrible. hahaha. I'm not sharing! This is my second attempt.. and I coloured with both Copics and Prismas. I coloured most of Tilda with copics as I normally would, then went in with a white prisma pencil to lighten up some areas and do the surround.  I need a lot of practice colouring with Prismas :)

The gorgeous papers are by my MDUC friend Denise and are available at Megs Garden. Denise has just released a new collection and the papers are just beautiful.

Some challenges are:
Midmight Madness #104 - sketch
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything goes
Creative Card Crew - Cute and Girly

Thanks for stopping by for a visit :) It means a lot to me.
Have a great day!

These are a few of my favourite things.......

Do I have you singing yet? hehehe. The song is definitely in my head :)

The challenge this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges is "Your Favourite Things"... and well, lets just say I packed a few of mine onto this card.  If you are looking for inspiration, the DT has done an amazing job this week, as they do every week so I encourage you to check out the Magnolia Down Under Challenges blog.

I have used the most adorable Magnolia stamp I own - this is "Lilla Ballerina" from Summer 2006 - wow hey? I just adore the early Maggies. I've coloured her with Copics but the blue hue and the grass is done with Prisma pencils. Something I love to do is use a fun Doo Hickey die on the edge of my card and kraft is usually the cardstock I choose for my card base. It is a great neutral cardstock that I pick up again and again. Some more of my favourite things on this card are.... stitching, lace, pearls, a charm, Magnolia papers (gorgeous texture and quality), and flowers (from Wild Orchid Crafts).

The sentiement is also a Magnolia Stamp from the Pets and Animals 2009 collection - and I just love it, my friends are a one of my favourite things ;)

So enough chatter from me ... Please join us this week at MDUC, we would love to see what your favourite things are.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
Just Magnolia and Hanglar Stanglar - Make it Lacy
Creative Craft Challenges - Distressed/Vintage
Everybody Art - Flowers
Lets Craft and Create - Sew Lovely
And Oldie but a Goodie - Flowers
Papertake Weekly - Fancy a punch

I also want to show you something pretty amazing - a painting my Mum in law did for our dining room - wow - I wish I could paint! It is a little hard to see in the photo (I took it when the sun was going down) but the detail is just amazing.

Well.. that is it from me today. I am working on projects for the next Magnolia Ink magazine right now (yep! the autumn edition already!) so I may be a little quiet for the next couple of weeks. I will have a little something sweet up for grabs for you in the next few days however, so please don't go too far!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Kylie

It's so distressing!

Oh my goodness - with blogger going down for a couple of days the interuption to our crafty lives was certainly a little bit distressing wasn't it? hehehe - I suppose we all found our ironning baskets and dusting and at least have the housework back up to date :)

This post was supposed to go live on Thursday night but I am at least able to share it with you now :) The challenge at Cute Card Thurday this week is "It's so distressing". I had a bit of fun making a more 'kiddie' style card. This is Tilda with Skipping Rope.

The card itself is just a basic 5 x 6 card with a triangle attached to the top for the roof, nothing especially tricky :)  I cut out the window with a Nestie and just added some strips cut with doo hickeys for decoration. All of the edges have been distressed with my scissors instead of my distressing tool.

The grass was cut with my cricut and the sentiment was just cut from a piece of DP from the Prima Annalee stack.

I would like to enter these challenges...

Whiff of Joy Challenge

Yay! Its Wednesday already! My goodness - it is getting quite chilly here in Canberra already. It is really quite early for it to be so cold so I expect that we will be seeing a freezing winter like our Northern Hemisphere friends did over Christmas. Time to get out those blankets!

It is time for our next Whiff of Joy Challenge - and this time we are looking for a colour combo... can you guess what it is?

If you guessed Aqua, Pink and Cream - you would be right! I have used Willow with Hot Chocolate for my card and attempted to go a little vintage with a bit of distressing and some buttons. I have also used one of the gorgeous WOJ border dies and button twine. I love that stuff.

The WOJ challenge DT have done an AMAZING job this week with thier gorgeous creations, it seems that this colour combo is pretty popular ;)

I would like to enter these challenges with my Willow card:
Bunny Zoes - Lace
Creative Craft - Distressed/Vintage
Double Dutch - Vintage
Everybody Art - Flowers

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers' Day to all the Mums out there, even if it isn't Mothers' Day where you are :) I have had the best morning so far. I had my first sleep in since... well since we had the kids, lol. I woke at 9am with the boys climbing into bed with me for a cuddle and then was spoiled with croissants and coffee waiting for me for breaky. Perfect! What more could I ask for :)

My card this morning is for Magnolia Down Under Challenges - So Krafty. I had a little play with a "Magic Card" (tutorial HERE) and this is the other image that I coloured with water colours. Her hair looks a bit odd... lol, I went a bit mad with the white gel pen after I made her hair a bit too dark.

The papers are all Magnolia and I got a little bit punch happy too, lol.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:
Stamp with Fun - Lace or ribbon (I have both)
DYSU - Purple
Midnight Madness 102 - Sketch

Oh - I also want to mention that Tickled Pink Stamps have the new Doo Hickey dies on pre order ! They are just amazing - you don't want to miss out!

Thanks for visitng me today, have a wonderful day!

Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges - May

Yay! Its Friday again! Woohooo. But I must admit, this week just flew by. They all seem to be at the moment.

There is a new challenge over at The Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges today.... and this month (so excited) we are sponsored by House Mouse! I adore House Mouse stamps. They are simply too cute. And the theme at The Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges this month is... BABIES! Perfect!  Not just for the adorable House Mouse stamps, but also because after just over three years, I recently came back into contact with an old girlfriend and found out that she has a little baby boy! So I made this card for her.  I am so excited for her and her partner. Babies are the most wonderful gift to share with the one you love. I'm particularly partial to baby boys, haha.  And for once, I know she has the card before I blog it. It is usually the other way around, this time I was a little more organised ;)

My card features "Love Bunny", one of the gorgeous Happy Hoppers stamps by House Mouse and some amazing Pion Design papers.  These papers have the most gorgeous texture to them. I'm in loooove! The card is a shaker card, my first, after seeing all of the beautiful ones Camilla has been making, I had to give it a try myself. I over filled it a bit with beads and glitter though, haha. The frame is white corrugated board that I've given a bit of crackle paint treatment :) The gorgeous roses are all Wild Orchid Crafts (of course). I loved making this shaker card and expect to see more...!

The challenge runs all month so please pop over and see the amazing work by the DT. I also wanted to say a HUGE thanks to our wonderful leader over at The Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenges - Stephanne. Not only does she do so much for our team, she is a fantastic friend and creates the most stunning cards. So thanks Stephanne! You're the best!
I would like to also enter this card into some challenges...
Everybody Art Challenge 140 - Sketch
Stampavie and More - Baby
Wild Orchid Crafts - White + 2 with a twist (roses)

Thanks for checking out my House Mouse card. I'll be back in a few hours for the Tickled Pink Stamps blog hop! Woohoo - Not to be missed!

Have a great weekend!

Cute Card Thursday # 163

Chocolate!! I love chocolate. It is my weakness. But I suppose I am not alone there :)

This week at Cute Card Thursday the theme is "I like chocolate a lot!". I thought I would make a Mothers' Day gift with a little chocolate box.  It is basically a mini pizza box, but it measures 6x4 inches with a little easel card on top.

I've masked little Tilda with her chocolate boxes and then stamped the sentiment on the image as well. The papers are Prima "Botanical" and I've gone a bit Doo Hickey nuts with Tilda's lace, the Rose leaf, and Dragonflies.

The recipe card is stamped and coloured as well so there is a place to write a little message and I've added little buttons to the bows. The little brown roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

This is what it looks like closed with the little teapot charm and pearls.

I had lots of fun making this little box. The "I like chocolate a lot" theme can be interpreted any way you like, either with images relating to chocolate or by the colour chocolate. I hope you'll come and play along and check out what the rest of the girls have made - OMG - the cards and projects are just stunning.

I would like to enter my box into these challenges:
Just Magnolia and Hanglar Stanglar - Buttons, bows and bling
Wild Orchid Crafts - White + two colours and ROSES (blue and pink)
Dutch Magnolia Lovers - Mother

Thanks for stopping in to visit me today :)  Today is my eldest son's 3rd birthday! Where does the time go? It feels like just yesterday that we were in hospital with this amazing little baby and now he is a tall and adorable little man.  Happy Birthday Jarred!  I thought I would share a pic of him this morning with his little brother and Dad in the cubby that we gave him (lol, them) for his birthday. Smiles all round.

Tickled Pink Stamps May Release - Lil Victorian Steampunk: Eric

Hi! Are you enjoying the Tickled Pink Stamps May release so far? There is a little bit of something for everyone isn't there?  Today we are previewing Lil Lad Eric in all of his Steampunk finery and the fantastic matching sentiment set - I love this set, but I think I say that every month! We celebrate the release of this collection on the 7th with a big blog hop. Of course, there are prizes to be won each day and also a huge prize for the hop so stick around and check out all of the amazing creations by the Design Team - "The Pink Ladies", this month in particular they are fantastic and NOT to be missed!

This month also celebrates my 1 year anniversary as a Pink Lady! And I am in fabulous company too, with Amy, Angela, Jane and Stephanne also celebrating with me.

I thought I'd make an accodian card showing off all three of the Steampunk stamps, Eric, Lilith and Luca.

Here is a better shot of Lilith and Luca. The papers are Steampunk Debutante by Graphic 45 (from Lime Tart) and I've added some tags and a clock face from The Kraft Outlet.  The little hot air balloon tags are from the Kaiserkraft Up Up and Away 6 inch pad. I've also fussy cut some of the papers for the butterflies and the 'time flies' graphic. The lasercut frame is from a candy I won from Kellie back in October 2009 when we first met :o) I'd been saving it for something special.

Below are some photos of more detail. If you would like to see more, just click on them to enlarge. I didnt want to bore everyone with heaps of large photos, hahaha.

And finally the box I made for the card to go in. The card measures 5x7 inches so finding an envelope was going to be tricky, so I made this box for it instead.

There is also a SALE happening at Tickled Pink Stamps starting on May 7th - release day! Buy 3 rubber stamps and get a 4th FREE.... How amazing is that?!

Sorry for the long post, but I love this collection and I was happy with how the card turned out so I got a little snap happy :o) I hope you love this collection as much as I do. Please stop by the Tickled Pink Stamps blog to check out the Pink Ladies' work. You won't be disappointed!

I'm entering this into these challenges:

I will be back later with my CCT project to share with you.
Have a great day!
Kylie

Pin up girl

Good morning! It is (hopefully) another sunny day here in Canberra. As usual I am actually typing this post just before I go to bed and scheduling it to appear first thing in the morning :o)

Today it is time for a new challenge at Magnolia Down Under Challenges and this week we are looking for LACE AND RIBBONS... easy peasy.

I decided to make something a little bit different for a change. I was sitting at my desk hunting around for a packet of pretty pins I had stashed somewhere. I don't know about you, but I have packets everywhere.  I was in need of a pretty storage solution for them - and a child safe one in case my little boys broke into my craft area (hmm... yes, it does happen!).  And then I thought back to my sewing and quilting days and went on the hunt for some pretty quilt fabrics I knew I had somewhere.. yes, another treasure hunt :o)  I have stamped and coloured on fabric before knew it could be done so I thought this may just work...

PIN CUSHIONS!

I actually made a few because I thought I would like to post some off to friends. They are stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa onto pre-washed Calico and coloured very quickly with Copics. I then added some pretty fabrics, lacce, ribbons, buttons and charms to girly them all up. Each pin cushion has a little loop of ribbon at the top so it can be hung up nice and high.

When colouring on fabric, it is important to prewash the fabric to remove the 'size' (the chemical added to the fabric during manufacture). It is also important to know that the copic ink tends to feather very quickly so you have to work fast. Normally when colouring faces I use five different colours to blend. On fabric because you are unable to blend as effectivly, I used  R21 for the cheeks and then only three shades for the skin. Try to stay a little further away from the stamp lines than usual until you are comfortable with how far the ink will feather.  The only other tip I really have for you is that these are not wash proof... if you wet them, the ink will run and create quite a pretty faded rainbow :o) So it is best only done on items that don't get washed... such as these pin cushions.

This last one isn't quite finished as I ran out of stuffing. It is a bit larger and more embellished.

For details of which stamps I used, please visit my Magnolia blog.
I would like to enter my little pin cushions into these challenges:

The Shabby Tea Room - Butterfly Wishes (gold butterfly charms, "Beautiful Tilda" - butterfly stamp)

We would love for you to join us at Magnolia Down Under Challenges this week for our challenge. We always love to see what you create to share with us.

Thanks for checking out my little project today - enjoy the rest of your weekend!
